Talimena State Park marks the Oklahoma entrance to the Talimena National Scenic Drive, a winding paved road through the Winding Stair Mountains that is known for spectacular spring and fall foliage. Hiking and backpacking trails throughout the Ouachita National Forest begin at Talimena State Park and offer a wide range of scenic, wooded terrain. Dirt bikes and ATVs are permitted in the park as an entrance point to the national forest lands.

Talimena State Park offers 10 RV sites with 30 amp electricity and water hookups, seven designated tent campsites with pads and many other available areas suitable for tents. Online reservations must be made for RV and tent sites.  Picnic facilities include a pavilion with water and electric, extra-large grills and six tables. There are also fire rings, a playground, hiking trails and a comfort station with showers available within the park. A small gift shop is located on-site. 

Talimena State Park

A gateway to the beautiful Ouachita National Forest, Lake Wister State Park in southeast Oklahoma offers five camping areas around the 115 miles of scenic shoreline. This outdoor haven offers park visitors a variety of activities including hiking, camping, biking, boating and water skiing on the 7,300 surface acres of Lake Wister. As an added bonus, the park is also equipped with a water spray park, a popular destination for children and adults alike.

Nestled in a ring of pine and oak covered mountains: the Sans Bois, Jackforks, Kiamichis and Ouachitas, lodging facilities at Lake Wister State Park include 15 cabins, RV sites with full hook-ups or some with water and electric only, and tent sites. All RV and tent sites must be reserved online. Book one of the 15 cozy cabins within the park and enjoy lake or park view cabins complete with stone-framed fireplaces and easy access to hiking trails.

The park's one or two-bedroom cabins, surrounded by groves of dogwood, wild cherry and northern spruce, accommodate four to six guests and feature one to two queen-size beds in each bedroom with linens, sleeper sofas and a 32-inch flat screen TV. Each cabin also comes complete with kitchen, restroom with shower and air conditioning. Two cabins have accessible main and bathroom entrances, and pets are welcome to stay in a select number of cabins at the park for a daily pet fee. Lake Wister State Park also offers a fully-equipped group camp that can accommodate up to 100 visitors and includes a full kitchen and dining hall.

Lake Wister State Park welcomes wildlife watchers, nature photographers and anyone wishing to escape into the great outdoors. Hunters will enjoy the nearby Wister Wildlife Management Area. A waterfowl area is also located within close proximity to the park. The Poteau River, Oklahoma's only river that flows north, feeds into Lake Wister along with the Fourche Maline and a half dozen or more mountain streams provided fresh cool water perfect for fishing. An abundance of northern bluegill, channel catfish, flathead catfish, white bass, smallmouth and largemouth bass are available for the angler. 

Facilities at the park include comfort stations with showers, picnic tables, group picnic shelters, lighted boat ramps, an unlighted gravel ramp, playgrounds and a swimming beach. Challenge friends and family to a round of miniature golf at the park's miniature golf course. Hiking trails include a self-guided nature trail and a 6.4-mile hiking trail that takes visitors into the surrounding wilderness to view wildlife such as deer, ducks and rabbits. During the winter months, wintering golden and bald eagles can be seen soaring overhead.

***NOTICE*** Winterization Update - The mini comfort station on Quarry Island will remain open for public use. Wards Landing Campground will be closed and bathhouse will be winterized from 11/1/19 - 3/1/20. Large bathhouse in Victor Campground will be winterized from 12/1/19 - 3/1/20. Wister Dam Campground will be available for semi-modern (water/electric only) camping but the Wister Dam restroom will be winterized from 11/1/19 - 3/1/20.  

Lake Wister State Park

Robbers Cave State Park features 26 cabins, while Belle Starr View Lodge offers 20 rooms and a great room for gatherings. Located in the Sans Bois Mountains, the lodge offers scenic views of hilly woodlands and Coon Creek Lake. Enjoy breathtaking views and the crystal clear waters of Lake Carlton, Coon Creek Lake and Wayne Wallace Reservoir. All rooms are non-smoking and have a coffeemaker, microwave, mini-refrigerator and satellite television. All 20 rooms feature two double beds and can accommodate four guests. Pets are not permitted in lodge rooms.

Robbers Cave State Park features a nature center, gift shop, equestrian trails and campgrounds, canoe and paddleboat rentals, miniature golf, a swim beach, swimming pool, campgrounds, hiking trails and more. Please note that the swimming pool is open daily Memorial Day through Labor Day.  In addition, paddleboat/canoe rentals and miniature golf are lease concessions that are open seasonally. Hours of operation for the pool and the lease concessions will vary starting in August, due to the start of the school season.


Belle Starr View Lodge at Robbers Cave State Park

Clayton Lake State Park, located in southeastern Oklahoma's Kiamichi Mountains, features 500 acres of lodging, fishing, boating, hiking and more. Wind your way through the hardwood forest's beautiful scenery and find what adventure and activities await you in this state park.

Lodging at the park, located just five miles south of Clayton, includes 30 reservable RV sites, 60 first come, first serve tent sites spread out between three camping areas, primitive cabins and two-bedroom cabins to fit your family's needs. Bring your dog along to stay in a spacious two-bedroom cabin that requires no additional pet fee. Clayton Lake State Park also offers five picnic pavilions, two boat ramps and four comfort stations with hot showers.

If you're looking for a restful getaway, look no further. The 80-acre lake is open to fishermen and boaters, but no watersports are allowed. In addition to a lighted boat and ADA accessible fishing dock, the park also has a swimming beach and playground. 

Take a stroll along the water's edge, wade through the rushing waterfalls, or bring a kayak to cross the lake's still water. With a wide variety of trees lining the water's edge, the beautiful foliage offers outdoor enthusiasts the chance to reconnect with nature along the park's hiking trails.

Nearby, guests can visit the Ouachita National Forest, Sardis Lake or the Choctaw National Capital Museum.

Clayton Lake State Park

In the scenic, hilly woodlands of the Sans Bois Mountains of southeast Oklahoma, Robbers Cave State Park is a favorite of rappellers, equestrians, hikers and outdoor lovers. It is named for the famous outlaw cave hidden in the formation of 300 to 1,50-ft sandstone hills and cliffs. The park and adjoining wildlife management area offer acres of discovery and enjoyment including seasonal trout fishing and hunting, miles of hiking and equestrian trails, rugged cliffs for climbing and stunning fall foliage viewing.

Once a former hideout for outlaws Jesse James and Belle Starr, Robbers Cave State Park is an 8,246-acre park with 189 combined lake acres with Lake Carlton, Lake Wayne Wallace and Coon Creek. All lakes in the park are day-use only, with a trolling speed of 6 mph maximum. 

Campground facilities at Robbers Cave State Park include RV sites with full hookups; RV sites with water and electric hookups, and primitive camping areas along secluded trails. Equestrian campsites are also available. Online reservations must be made for all tent and RV sites.

Other overnight accommodations include a lodge, cabins, a lake hut, yurts and two group camp facilities. Each of the 20 rooms at the Belle Starr View Lodge commands an impressive view of Coon Creek Lake and the forested valley below. All rooms are non-smoking and feature two double beds, a coffee maker, microwave, mini-fridge and satellite television. Rooms at the lodge can accommodate up to four guests. Pets are not permitted in lodge rooms.

A total of 26 non-smoking cabins are available with scenic views of Robbers Cave State Park. Each cabin comes fully equipped with cookware in the kitchen, central heat and air, fireplace, shower and satellite television. Pet-friendly cabins are available with a daily pet fee and must be requested at reservation.

Choose from one-bedroom duplex cabins that sleep four guests, one-bedroom cabins that also sleep four guests, two-bedroom cabins that sleep six guests and two-bedroom cabins with decks that sleep up to six guests. If you're looking for something romantic, "honeymoon" cabins are also available. Near the main park entrance, the lake hut comes equipped with a queen-sized bed and a sleeper sofa. It also has a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a table with four chairs. There is no television or shower facility, but the lake hut does have a toilet and sink. It is pet-friendly.

Yurt guests enjoy a queen bed and sofa sleeper within the circular structure. Amenities include a mini-fridge, microwave, heat and air window unit, ceiling fan and a deck overlooking Lake Carlton. One yurt is handicap accessible, and the nearest restroom/shower is a couple of hundred yards away.

With accommodations for up to 274 people, Group Camp 1 features 12 cabins, while Group Camp 2 features seven bunkhouses that can accommodate 250 people. Group Camp 1 is open seasonally from March through November and Group Camp 2 is open year-round.

Bring your own ATV or side-by-side and explore Robbers Cave State Park’s 250-acre ATV riding area, which is open from 8am until sunset each day. The park also has an amphitheater, five group picnic shelters and two indoor community rooms. With picnic tables, comfort stations with showers, boat ramps, a swimming beach, a seasonal swimming pool with bathhouse, playgrounds, it's easy to have a good time at the park.  From miniature golf, paddleboat rentals and golf cart rentals, to a small grocery store and a nature center with naturalist programs and exhibits, the park has something for everyone.

Robbers Cave State Park is a perfect family getaway with an abundance of outdoor fun to keep the kids entertained. Take advantage of the park's steep cliffs while learning the art of rappelling, or venture off into the adjacent wildlife management area, featuring 3,800 acres of forested hunting ground.

Restrooms behind the pool and on the west end of the Nature Center will remain closed for construction. Group Camp 2 is open year round, but group Camp 1 will be closed for renovation.

Cedar Creek Golf Course will be closed to the public beginning August 9, 2020 and is projected to re-open in March 2021.

Known for its pine-rimmed fairways, Cedar Creek Golf Course in Beavers Bend State Park is one of the most beautiful courses in the state. Cedar Creek Golf Course at Beavers Bend

Lakeview Lodge is a part of Beavers Bend State Park and is located in the mountainous region of southeast Oklahoma, along the shores of Broken Bow Lake.
