Owls Head State Park Description

Open all year; 9:00 a.m. to sunset daily. No fees are charged at this location. Owls Head State Park is managed in conjunction with the United State Coast Guard. The park provides access to Owls Head Light, an 1852 lighthouse poised on a granite promontory 100 feet above Penobscot Bay. The structure, light keeper's house and the immediate surrounding grounds remain U.S. Coast Guard property. Nonetheless, visitors can park at the parking lot, enjoy the picnic grove and walk to either the small rocky beach, with its views of Rockland, or near the lighthouse grounds and the lighthouse on the blu
