Conestoga is a 230-acre reservoir surrounded by 486 acres of land. The area offers boating, picnicking, hiking and biking trails, camping and fishing. Located just two miles north of Denton in rural Lancaster County, Conestoga is a popular getaway for visitors from Lincoln and the surrounding area.

A Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Aquatic Habitat Program and Angler Access Program project was completed at Conestoga State Recreation Area in 2018. While the lake is now open, the boat docks have yet to be installed and the fish won’t reach keeper-sized proportions until 2021. But the area offers plenty of recreation opportunities, including camping, picnicking, boating and kayaking.

George Martinak deeded this land of forests, fields and marsh to the state in 1961 for preservation as a recreational facility and a natural area for the enjoyment of all. Bordered by the Choptank River and Watts Creek, this area supports a wide variety of plant and animal life. Anglers may enjoy the opportunity to catch bass, perch, sunfish and catfish.

The park is located with hardwood and pine forests on the Choptank River and Watts Creek. Modern campsites and boating access are available. Amenities include hiking trails, playground, shelters and a nature center. Pets are allowed in all areas of the park except the shelter and cabins.

Martinak State Park Boat Ramp Area will be closed beginning June 1, 2021 for approximately 12 months for repairs and improvements to the bulkhead, boat ramp and pier area . Please contact the park office at 410-820-1668 with any questions or concerns.
