Enjoy scenic views of Penobscot Bay while you picnic or fish. The park's crescent-shaped sand beach allows swimming in a gentle surf. Swimmers should note that there are no lifeguards.

Open Memorial Day to Labor Day; 9:00 a.m. to sunset daily unless otherwise posted at the gate. Fee charged. - cash or check only, no credit cards accepted. Visitors may continue to enjoy the park during the off season by parking outside the gate, without blocking it, and walking in during these same hours. Please place the admission fee in the self-service collection canister. Please be aware that facilities are closed during the off season.

Birch Point State Park

Open all year; 9:00 a.m. to sunset daily. No fees are charged at this location.

Owls Head State Park is managed in conjunction with the United State Coast Guard. The park provides access to Owls Head Light, an 1852 lighthouse poised on a granite promontory 100 feet above Penobscot Bay. The structure, light keeper's house and the immediate surrounding grounds remain U.S. Coast Guard property. Nonetheless, visitors can park at the parking lot, enjoy the picnic grove and walk to either the small rocky beach, with its views of Rockland, or near the lighthouse grounds and the lighthouse on the bluff above.

The park provides picnic tables and shore access.
